Moniq Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Moniq Finance, an individual developer publishing and operating the Moniq mobile application (referred to as "Moniq," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Moniq mobile application and related services (the "App" or "Service").

Moniq is a personal finance tracking tool. It is not a bank, payment service, lender, broker, investment platform, tax advisor, or financial advisor. Moniq does not process, hold, transfer, or move user funds.

By using Moniq, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the App.

1.1 Account Information

When you create or use an account, we may collect:

  • Email address — used to create and secure your account, send verification codes, and communicate important account or security notices.
  • Phone number — used only if required for account verification, login security, or account recovery.
  • User ID or account identifier — used to operate your account and sync your data.

1.2 Financial Data You Provide

Moniq may store the personal finance information you manually enter into the App, including:

  • income and expense records;
  • categories;
  • budgets;
  • balances;
  • notes or labels added to records;
  • manually imported files, if import functionality is available.

This information is used only to provide personal finance tracking, budgeting, and analytics features inside the App.

Moniq does not hold, transfer, or move your money. The App is used only to help you manually view, categorize, and analyze your personal finance data inside the App.

1.3 Device and Technical Data

We may collect limited technical information needed to operate and protect the App, including:

  • device model;
  • operating system and version;
  • app version;
  • language and timezone;
  • IP address;
  • login and security events;
  • basic usage events, such as screens viewed or features used, if analytics is enabled.

We do not use advertising identifiers for cross-app tracking unless this is explicitly disclosed and consented to where required by law and app store rules.

1.4 Crash and Diagnostic Logs

We may collect crash reports, error logs, stack traces, and diagnostic information to identify bugs, improve stability, and protect the Service.

Crash and diagnostic logs may include technical details about the device, app version, operating system, and the state of the App when an error occurred. We do not intentionally include financial records in crash logs.

1.5 Permission-Based Data

Moniq requests device permissions only when a specific feature requires them. Permissions are not requested at first launch unless necessary for a core feature.

Depending on the features available in your version of the App, Moniq may request access to camera, photos, push notifications, location, microphone, contacts, biometrics, or files/storage. These permissions are described in Section 6. We use permission-based data only for the feature the user chooses to use.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • create, maintain, and secure your account;
  • provide expense tracking, budgeting, categories, balances, and analytics features;
  • sync your data across devices, if sync is available;
  • send account, security, and service-related notifications;
  • monitor, debug, and improve app stability and performance;
  • understand how features are used so we can improve the App;
  • detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents;
  • comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal or financial data. We do not use your financial records for targeted advertising.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

Moniq may use trusted third-party providers to operate the App. These providers may process information only to provide services to Moniq and must not use it for their own unrelated purposes.

  • Data in transit is protected using HTTPS/TLS.
  • Account credentials are handled using secure authentication mechanisms. We do not store plain-text passwords.
  • Access to production data is restricted to authorized personnel and service providers on a need-to-know basis.
  • We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

5.1 Account and Data Deletion

If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your account data and associated financial records from active systems within 30 days, unless we are required to retain certain information by law or for legitimate security reasons.

You may request deletion by:

  • using the account deletion option inside the App, if available; or
  • contacting us at help@moniq-support.com from the email associated with your account.

5.2 Data That May Be Retained Longer

Some information may be retained for a limited period after account deletion:

  • Security and fraud logs may be retained for up to 12 months to investigate abuse, protect the Service, or comply with legal requests.
  • Backups may retain deleted data for up to 90 days until backup rotation removes it.
  • Crash and diagnostic logs may be retained according to our internal retention settings or the retention settings of our crash-reporting provider.
  • Aggregated or anonymized data that can no longer identify you may be retained for analytics and product improvement.

We will not retain personal data longer than necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

6. App Permissions

Moniq requests permissions only when needed for an available feature. Denying an optional permission may limit the related feature, but the core finance tracking functionality should remain usable where technically possible.

The App may request the following permissions depending on which features are available in the released version:

PermissionPurposeRequired?
CameraTo scan receipts or documents for expense entry, if receipt scanning is availableOptional
Photo LibraryTo attach receipt images to transactions or set a profile image, if these features are availableOptional
Push NotificationsTo send budget alerts, reminders, account/security notices, or product notifications enabled by the userOptional

We follow the principle of least privilege: permissions should be requested only at the moment a related feature is used, not at first app launch, unless the permission is required for a core feature. App Store privacy information should match the permissions and data collection practices of the released build.

8. International Data Transfers

If you access Moniq from a country different from where our servers or service providers are located, your information may be transferred internationally.

Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections with service providers.

9. Children's Privacy

Moniq is not intended for children. You must be at least 18 years old, or the minimum age required by law in your jurisdiction, to use the App.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us at help@moniq-support.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify users through the App, by email, or by another appropriate method before the changes take effect where required by law.

The updated version will be indicated by a new "Last updated" date.
